Big Boy Bed!

Last night, Drew spent his first night in his big boy bed! We had been talking about putting him in a twin bed in the near future. In fact, we already have the bed...I am slightly embarassed to say that we bought the bed at a very well-known city neighborhood (the same neighborhood in which our lovely governor lives, but maybe not for much longer!) garage sale before we were even pregnant! But, I couldn't pass it up--it's an old, iron bed like the one I used to have as a kid and only cost us $20. It sat in our garage for years until a couple weeks ago. Grant somehow got it out of our over-filled garage (I'll do another post on that subject another time) and upon closer examination, I noticed it was chipping red paint. Since I have no idea when it was painted, LEAD paint immediately entered my mind. I had already bought the paint and sandpaper at this point, hoping to make it a weekend project. Since my son loves to put anything and everything into his mouth, I did lead test on it, and sure enough, it's lead paint. On to Plan B. Even though we hope to eventually use the bed for Drew, we decided that since Plan A was scratched, it would probably be best to transition him to a toddler bed first. I struck gold when I found a wooden firetruck bed on Craiglist. The following pictures are when Drew saw the bed for the first time and the morning after he slept in bed. If you can't tell by the look on his face, he loves it! And, I am happy to say, that the transition couldn't have been better!

What's this?

I love my bed!

But, I love my car, too!

Sledding

Jakob and Drew went sledding with their daddies! The boys (all of them!) had fun on the little hill near our house, and then went to McDonalds for lunch.

*Notice the lovely Chicago tradition (in the background of the picture of all the boys) of "saving" parking spaces when it snows. I mean, give me a break! There couldn't have been more than a couple inches and people are already psycho over their spots. This is actually illegal, but Dayley does not enforce it. What really annoys me is when people still have thier ghetto spot-savers up in April!

Heidi and Guido's New House

Today Heidi and Guido took possession of their new house! Although it needs some new paint, it's a gorgeous Victorian. The best part of it all? They're practically our neighbors! It's about a 3 minute drive and a 10 minute walk! We couldn't be happier.
