It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas

Tonight we went to get our Christmas tree. Last year it took us (ok, me)quite a while to pick out the perfect tree. But this year we did it in record time. It was the first tree we looked at. It was kind of odd to be getting a tree in 65 degree weather. It felt almost wrong. But, we decided to take the opportunity while thn e weather is still somewhat decent, considering by Thursday it's supposed to be 25 degrees. Only in Chicago.

P.S. Drew told me he wanted to wear his red and white striped sweatshirt to commemorate the beginning of the holiday season! And then there's his socks for all you Swedish speakers.

Drew is One Month!

Today Drew turned one month. It is hard to believe that 30 days ago I went into the hospital, not realizing that I would give birth the very next day. Despite the somewhat difficult labor, I obviously am overjoyed to have this little being in my life. Today, we went to Lincoln Park to spend some time with Aunt Liz. Then, when Daddy got home, we went to get a Christmas tree with my parents. To top the evening off, we took the dog on our nightly walk. It was a good day.

Pre-Baby

I was looking through some pictures from last summer and I came across this one. Sitting in the bleachers at Cubs games just aren't the same when you're pregnant! When I think back to when this picture was taken, I felt huge! At the end of my pregnancy when I wore that shirt, it didn't cover the bottom half of my belly. I think I was still in denial about how big I was going to get...
To rub salt in the wound, I saw a friend, Todd, from college today who didn't even recognize me. I keep telling myself that maybe he just wasn't used to seeing me out of context (ie. with a baby stroller in Lincoln Park), but I have a feeling it has something to do with the 25 lbs that I still need to shed...

Not the Baby Anymore

Samson has done a pretty good job of adjusting to Drew's arrival, although he knows he's not the baby anymore. At times he can still be a pill, but he has been really good with the baby. Eileen has helped with that, too.

Some Updated Pictures of Our House

I know I said I would post some pictures of some of the work we have done so far. We still have a lot left to do, but we have made a lot of progress so far.

Drew's Nursery

Here are some pictures of Drew's nursery. Since we didn't know if he was going to be a boy or a girl, we tried to go somewhat neutral. But, looking at it now, I think it looks more like a little boy's room.

Thanksgiving Part II

Here are pictures from Thanksgiving with Grant's family. His cousins and aunt came in from the west coast.

Thanksgiving Part I

This year for Thanksgiving we visited both sides of the family. We had an early Thanksgiving with my family here in Chicago and an evening Thanksgiving with Grant's family in Lake Forest. It was a busy day, to say the least. Here are some pics from my parents' house.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall...

Drew enjoys looking into his mirror. He sees such a handsome man staring back at him!

Our Little Swede, Sort Of!

As a gift from Drew's Aunt Kari in D.C., he received an adorable hat with a Swedish horse sewn on the front. Since Drew is half Swedish, it's very fitting. I absolutely love the hat, but it looks like he's going to have to wait until next season to wear it...instead of our little Swede, he looks more like our little Russian Swede!

Three Weeks Old

Drew turned three weeks yesterday! It's hard to believe that so much time has gone by already. Drew continues to grow. He no longer fits into his newborn-sized clothing. As happy as I am that he is growing, it makes me sad to think that my little boy is growing up so fast.
I love this picture...
Aunt Kristen and Aunt Liz came to hang out!
Sleeping so soundly in his crib in his cute little outfit from Dave, Melissa, and Mackenzie.
Crazy Aunt Laura!

More Pictures...

Tonight I took Drew to the Werling's house for dinner. Since it was cold, I had to bundle him up! Here he is in his fuzzy little snowsuit from his Aunt Karin and Uncle Brian in NJ. It was really warm--I want one!
Drew likes his mobile. We're "practicing" with his crib--hopefully one of these days he'll sleep in it at night.

Some Pictures from the Last Week

Proud Grandpa Nyquist
Drew enjoys his bouncy seat!
But, he does NOT enjoy baths! I have never heard a baby scream so loud in response to having bath!
This is what he does not do at night...
Do you remember that game, Pigmania? Well, this reminds me of one of the possible rolls, but I can't remember what the name of it is! Anyone know? By the way, the yellow lab is Samson and the black mix is Eileen. Look closely...that's not her leg--it's her tail! She is our loving three-legged dog!
