Drew's First Halloween

Right after school, my mom and I took Drew on his first trick-or-treating experience. We went to a couple of our friends' houses in our neighborhood. Drew was a lion. He likes to "roar," so the decision was easy! When Grant got home later that night, we decided to go for a walk to check out all the evening festivities.

Fall Festival at School

Instead of celebrating Halloween, we decided to go with a "Fall Festival" theme. The kids got to rotate from station to station to participate in fun activities. We had a pumpkin decorating table, musical gourd (like hot-potato), creepy critters, and a food station. It was a fun afternoon!

Evening Walk

I just couldn't help but post these pictures. Drew is wearing a sweater from our dear friends, The Moores, from Michigan. I am so happy it finally fits him!

Drew's 1st Birthday Party!

For Drew's first birthday, we threw him a cowboy party, complete with cowboy hats, bandanas, and boots! Thank you to everyone who came . We love you and are thankful you could share this milestone with us!

One Year Ago Today

Exactly one year ago, Drew Oliver Bramley entered our lives, stubborn from the start. All evening on the night of the 26th, I had tried to get him to move, but he wouldn't. Jelly beans, orange juice, lying on my side...nothing worked. At that point in a pregnancy, an expectant mother should be able to feel her baby move quite frequently. I called Deb and she told me that I needed to go in to get checked. We loaded up the car with our "hospital bags" and left for the hospital. I was convinced, however, that I would be coming right home that night. Grant insisted that we take the bags along just in case. As soon as we got the hospital and sat down in the waiting room, he started moving. At that point I wanted to go home, but they wouldn't let me. The nurses hooked me up to the machines to moniter me and (at this point) the baby. Throughout my entire pregnancy, my blood pressure was great. However, since I was basically freaking out that he wasn't moving, my bp was high. Because of this, they decided to induce. That was when I started to really freak out. For so long I had said that " I just want to have this baby already!" But now that the situation had actually arrived, my "flight" instinct kicked in. After being on the petocin drip for almost 20 hours with little to no progress, and me being in pain due to failed epidurals, the decision was made to deliver by c-section. Forty-five minutes later, at 11:27 p.m., Drew Oliver was born. Happy birthday, buddy! We love you!

And here he is today...one and on the run!

A Day in the Life of the Dogs...

These pictures pretty much explain what meal times in our house look like. We've had to start shutting the dogs on the backporch while Drew eats because he thinks it's funny to drop his food to the scavengers. One good thing, though, is that I don't have to sweep any food off the ground. The dog hair, however, is another story! Note that Samson's two front legs are OFF the ground in the last picture. That's one determined dog.

Our Visit to the Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday we took Drew to a pumpkin patch. Because of the beautiful weather (almost 70 degrees), it was quite crowded. At first, Drew seemed overwhelmed with the chaos, but after a while he really enjoyed himself. He got to see piglets, calves, chicks, and lots of pumpkins! Thank goodness he is not old enough to want to go on rides yet, because the lines were ridiculously long. Drew's head looks amazingly similar to the pumpkins that surround him...
