Playing in the "Snow"

Drew and Daddy spent some time out in the "snow" today. Too bad it was more like rain!

Thanksgiving Round II

Grant's family has a yearly Easter tradition. It's called an Egg Fight, and it's an old German tradition where contestants use boiled eggs to try to crack each other's eggs. His family takes this very seriously (one year we got in BIG trouble and were called "cheaters" for using organic, free range eggs) and even included Drew in on the festivities. But an egg fight at Thanksgiving? Since so many people are out of town on Spring Break during Easter, the official competition was switched to Thanksgiving so that all can take part. Congrats to Steph for the win this year!
In addition to giving thanks for all that we have in our lives, we also celebrated Grant's grandma's 90th birthday. Drew was a trooper the whole day. At my parents' house, he had my cousins' kids to play with, not to mention the insane amount of toys. At Grant's aunt's house, there were no toys or other children to play with. Despite that fact, Drew was on his best behavior. He ran numerous laps around the house, entertained everyone with his boyishly good looks, and even entertained himself in Lula's cage.

Thanksgiving Round I

Every year we spend Thanksgiving Day with both of our families. Altough it can be weary and tiresome jumping from house to house, we are blessed to have both of our families so close. Our first stop was at my parents' house for a turkey lunch. Being with family makes me realize how many things I have to be thankful for.

Genius?

The other night after dinner, I changed Drew's diaper and instead of putting a new one on, I let him run around without a diaper. I'm sure you can already see where this is heading, but to tell this story, I need to give you a little background information, so bear with me. While we were in MI last weekend, I found this really unique chalkboard for Drew's room. We are in the process of trying to switch Drew's room from a nursey to a "big boy" room with a Transportation theme, so I thought this antique one would go perfectly. On this particular night, Drew decided to express his artistic talents, in more ways than one...
Just after these pictures were taken, Grant and I were discussing how talented Drew is. For one, he has an unbelievable memory. When we drive past my parents' street, he knows they live there. He starts crying because he wants to go to Mormor's house. Anytime we are driving and he sees a Volvo XC90, he makes sure to point out, "Mormor's car!" He is very focused, has quite the imagination, and is extremely curious about everything. Just as Grant and I were bringing up the possibility that he might be gifted, Drew pooped on the floor. Let me just say the discussion ended there!

Michigan

We went up to MI to visit our good friends for the weekend who just bought a new house. It was such a wonderful trip. We got to leave the craziness of our lives behind in the city and head up to a small, relaxed city to just do NOTHING, except be with our friends. We sat around in our pajamas for half the day on Saturday while drinking coffee and watching the kids play so well together (except when Drew ran away and hid with Fletcher's beloved dog).
It's unfortunate that so often we get so caught up in life that we don't take any time to slow down. What a good reminder to us that life is not all about meeting deadlines, having a clean house, or a packed social calendar.
It was also a memorable trip due to the fact that Drew decided to eat two slices of bacon while we were there. For those of you that don't know, our son has been showing vegetarian tendencies...he will eat ONLY fruits and vegetables. This event truly made his father proud.

Raking the Leaves Part II

Here is our second attempt at raking leaves. Our neighbor Jack decided to join in the fun. Needless to say, the leaves are still there.
